Lorene Hoots (Hicks)

Lorene Lee Hicks, age 81, of Branson, Missouri, passed away peacefully February 6, 2023, with family by her side. She entered this life August 16, 1941, daughter of Melvin and Mary Jane (Norman) Hoots in Galesburg, Illinois.
Lorene spent more than twenty years portraying the loved character Buckshot Granny at Silver Dollar City. With an eye for beauty, Lorene loved oil painting and doing crafts. The memories and moments created over Lorene’s lifespan will be cherished by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Terry Dale Hicks, and her parents.
Lorene is survived by her two daughters: Jackie (Brett) Whipple of Galesburg, Illinois, and Judy Keith (Jim) of Branson, Missouri, three grandchildren: Devin (Eric) Daggett, Amy (Dustin) Hodges, and John (Jamilah) Keith, all of Illinois; three great-grandchildren; and brother, Dan Hoots and sister-in-law, Marie of Hillsboro, Oregon.
There will be a graveside service held at a later date.
