Mr. Dale Laverne Landon, 79, of Henderson, Illinois died 7:37 a.m. Sunday, March 14, 2021 at OSF St. Francis, Peoria, Illinois.

He was born June 29, 1941 in Avon, Illinois to Dale Fredrick and Theda Mae (Edmundson) Landon.  He married Linda Kay Harter, February 22, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois.  She preceded him in death July 4, 2017.

Surviving are two sons, Doug L. (his wife, Tara, and his stepdaughter, Millie) of Pilot Point, Texas and Jeffrey D. (and Tina) Landon of Galesburg.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Dean Landon. 

Laverne graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959.  He served in the United States Army for two years.  He was a driver for R & B Distributers in Galesburg for 45 years.  In high school, Laverne went to state in wrestling and played football.  He loved horses especially his horse “Sonny”.  He was a fan of NASCAR, enjoyed his Miller High Life, and loved spending time with his family and friends. 

Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.  David Scholl will officiate.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
