John Gardner

John Gardner, 71, of Manchester, Mo., formerly of Galesburg, Ill. died at 7:10 p. m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Chesterfield, Mo.

He was born August 10, 1941 in Monmouth, Ill. the son of Harry C. and Jean L. Johnson Gardner.

He is survived by a son, Terence C. Gardner of St. Charles, Mo. and a daughter, Caitlyn J. Gardner of Crystal Lake Park, Mo.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

John worked as a sales representative for several years before retiring.  He graduated from Galesburg High School and Knox College.

John served in the United States Army with the 4th Infantry during the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the Bronze Star in 1962.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Mosher Cemetery, near Alexis, Ill.  Rev. Rick Warren will officiate.

I remember John having a good sense of humor and being a curious learner.  We had a good time visiting his family's cabin on the Mississippi and doing some boating.  RIP

John was the fine tenor sax in our danceband The Silver Chords. Great musician and we had lots of good times  our sr year. Sorry I can't reminisce with him.
