Kenneth L. "Kenny" Allison 1941 - 2015


GALESBURG - Kenneth L. ""Kenny"" Allison, 73, Galesburg, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015, in Amara Hospice Care in Edinburg, Texas.
He was born July 18, 1941, in Galesburg, the son of Wilbur and Bernice (Guenther) Allison. He married Sandra N. Gross on April 8, 1961, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra; a son, Mark L. (and Carrie) Allison of Kalamazoo, Michigan; a daughter, Kelly R. Allison of Galesburg; two grandchildren, Matthew Allison and Amanda Allison; and a sister, Bertha Bothwell of Windsor, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his stepfather, Harry Bothwell, who raised him.
Kenny was a conductor for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway for 40 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959 and was a lifelong Galesburg resident. He was a member of U.T.U. 195. Kenny and Sandra owned a 1930 Chevrolet and were members of the Antique Car Club. He was also a member of the Jayco Camping Club, the Midwest RV Club and the Rail City Ramblers.
Kenny served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. He was a member of Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the chapel, with the Rev. David Knickner officiating. Cremation will be accorded with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
