Roger Horton

Roger N. Horton, 52, 1138 Lombard St, a retired Galesburg firefighter, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday (nov. 5, 1993) in Cottage Hospital.

He was born Sept. 7, 1941, in Galesburg, the son of Neal E. and Erma M Simpson Horton. He married Vicki L. Roback on Feb. 10, 1963, in Galesburg.

Surviving are his wife; his father, one son, Todd R. Horton, Galesburg; one daughter, Diane R. Davison, Galesburg; two brothers, Rodney E. Horton and Robert E. Horton, both of Galesburg, and three grandchildren.

He was graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959, and attended Carl Sandburg College.

He served on the Galesburg Fire Department for 25 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Galesburg Firefighters Association Local 555, First Lutheran Church, Galesburg Bowling Association, Weekenders Golf League and Silver Rims Motorcycle Club. He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association, and was a member and past president of the Galesburg Boosters Club.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, with the Rev. Arnold Thoren officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
