Laverne McBride

GALESBURG — Laverne McBride, 62, 280 E Losey St., died at 8 p.m. Monday (May 10, 2004), in Heartland Health Care Center

She was born Feb. 1, 1042, in Ridgely. Tenn., the daughter of Edward L. and Christine L. Everett McBride. She was raised by Dewel and Mamie Taylor in Galesburg.

Surviving are two brothers, Dr. Robert Kimbrough, Georgia, and Ronald Kimbrough of Michigan; one sister, Carolyn Kimbrough Davis, Michigan, several cousins and nephews. She also is survived by Shirley Wallace of Galesburg, a friend who cared for her. She was preceded in death by her parents and the family who raised her.

She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959.

She worked as a secretary for the former Galesburg State Research Hospital and for the Department of Agriculture from 1964 to 1999. She lived in Galesburg her entire Life.

She was a member of the Israel of God's Church where she was the secretary for several years.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at East Lin wood Cemetery, with Bishop Ronald Henton and the Rev Harold Boyd officiating. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson -West Galesburg Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the MS Foundation.

LaJoyce Murrell (Kimbrough)

Lovely, compassionate, and was well liked by everyone who knew her.
