Terry Reffett

Terry Ray Reffett, Sr., 61 of Abingdon, died at 8:27 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg. He was born April 27, 1941 in Galesburg, the son of Norman R. and Ilah Mae Johnson Reffett. He married Beverly Ann Miller on July 8, 1959 in Galesburg. She survives. Also surviving is his mother Ilah M. Reffett, East Galesburg, two sons, Terry Ray Reffett, Jr., Galesburg and James (Susan) Reffett, Abingdon, one daughter, Ramona Sickles, Abingdon, one brother, Ronald Reffett, East Galesburg, two sisters, Nancy (Stan) Kilby, Elkton, Mo. and Kathleen (Larry) Legg, East Galesburg and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father on March 3, 1998. He had farmed west of the Bracken Corners for many years, retiring in 1978. He also was a heavy equipment operator for the Illinois Department of Transportation. He retired Sept. 1, 2001. He was a 1959 graduate of Galesburg High School and had lived in Abingdon since 1979. He attended the East Galesburg Community Chapel and the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon. He was a member of the teamster's Union and was a regular golfer at Laurel Greens Golf Course, Knoxville. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with the Revs. Milton Marquith and Pete Carter officiating. Burial was in Gerlaw Cemetery, Gerlaw, Ill.
