In Memory

John Stout

John Stout

GALESBURG - John C. Stout went to be with our heavenly Father the evening of July 31, 2016.

He was born Sept. 13 1941, to his loving parents, Charles Gordon and Virginia (Henry) Stout.

He married Rebecca Ann Horn. He later married Betty Forbes.

He is survived by three daughters, whom he considered his best friends, LeAnn (Terry) Boone, Jonna (Phil) Stout, and Michelle (Jeremy) Stokes; his sister, Cora (Stout) Peterson, whom he cherished; and his uncle, Mike (Sue) Henry, whom he loved like a brother. He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he adored; and several nieces, nephews and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his adored daughter, JoAnn Stout; a beloved brother, Lance Stout; and a precious great-grandson, Johnathan Herr.

He was a proud Galesburg firefighter for 26 years. When he wasn't fighting fires he had various jobs. He was a jack of all trades and an excellent craftsman. There wasn't much he couldn't do. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved going to restaurants, golfing, camping, fishing and ball games. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He especially loved spending time with his daughters, his family, and his friends. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.

Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016, at Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Per John's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded after his visitation. A luncheon will follow at the Thomas Legacy Center. Arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family in c/o his daughter LeAnn Boone. Expressions of sympathy may be left for the family at www.watsonthomas.com.
