Robert Ronnie "Ron" Armstrong ObituaryLITTLE YORK - Robert Ronnie "Ron" Armstrong, 74, Little York, died at 2:09 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015, at home.
He was born March 21, 1941, in Galesburg, the son of Kenneth H. and Lila Fern (Cherrington) Armstrong. He married Mary Ewing on June 19, 1965, in Frankfurt, Germany.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Mary; a daughter, Tricia (and Matt) Paul of Andalusia; and two grandchildren, Kenna Armstrong and Haley Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in infancy, Patricia Armstrong; and a son, David Armstrong, on June 10, 2014.
Ron graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959. He served in the United States Army from 1964 to 1967, stationed in Frankfurt. After the Army, Ron farmed for 40 years, retiring in 2007. He was a gun enthusiast, enjoying skeet shooting and cowboy action shooting.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Sam Cherrington will officiate.
