ONEIDA - Maren K. Carlson, 71, Oneida, died at 10:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born Nov. 19, 1940, in Crawfordsville, Ind., the daughter of George and Autumn Pett Rivers. She was raised and adopted by her mother and stepfather, Russell and Autumn Hickok. She married James C. Carlson on July 7, 1961, in Galesburg. He survives of Oneida.
Also surviving are a daughter, Paige (Jeff) Rohweder of Oneida; two sons, Lance C. Carlson of Oneida and Ryan Lee "Blue" (Jennifer) Carlson of Altona; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Autumn, Khristian, Andrew, Shelby, Montana, Harley and Angus; one great-grandson, Duke; one sister, Marsha (Jack) Engle of Abingdon; and one brother, Brian (Anita) Hickok of San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.
She attended Carl Sandburg College where she received her LPN. She received the Carl Sandburg Outstanding Alumni of the Year 1980-1981 award and received from the Pilot Club of Galesburg, the "Handicapped Professional Women of the Year" Award. She worked as an LPN for the former Galesburg Mental Health Center in Galesburg from 1976 to 1982.
