Gale Wiley Gale E. Wiley, 64, of Galesburg, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, of natural causes. Cremation rites were accorded. Graveside services are at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville, is in charge of arrangements. He was born April 9, 1940, in Yates City, Ill., the son of Elden L. Wiley and Christina Gross. He married Shelia Witherell on Feb. 4, 1965, in Galesburg. He was employed by Gates Rubber Company as an extruder operator for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He also was an owner/operator of a janitorial service in Galesburg. He also repaired antique light fixtures and sold them in area stores. He attended the First Church of God, Galesburg. He was a past member of the Galesburg Motorcycle Club and the Archery Club of Galesburg. Surviving is a daughter, Susan E. Heynen, Knoxville; one son, Gregory G. (and spouse, Susan) Wiley, Cherryville, N.C; one grandson, Joshua J. Heynen, Knoxville; two stepgrandchildren, Aaron Smith and Sarah Smith, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by only his parents.
