Sorry to hear Edward Hill has passed. I knew about his problem, but couldn't get current info. He was my best friend and buddy all through High School. I think his sister, Jane, was taking care of him and lives in California. Ed Crowell

Hi Mike, Surprised to hear you are in Hawaii. I see Kamuela is the post office name for Waimea. I am glad to hear you made it to the 50th Reunion! I infer Donnie Wright was there too. Yes, it would have been fun to sing some of the old Octet Songs. Which ones did you do? I have thought about you and many of my other good friends lately for some reason. Maybe just mental telepathy!? I have been sorry to read about some of my friends who have passed away. I am trying to keep in shape with diet and exercize. I will post a picture on my site soon. I see you were (are) in the Coast Guard and a Public Health Officer. Must be interesting with all the infectious disease, CRE, and MGR organisms. Some of the new targeted modalities seem to be getting a bit of play lately. Parenthetically, I have a friend whose Father won the Nobel Prize in Medicine a few years ago. His name was Boyer. His son was in General Surgery at the Winona Clinic. Doug got a malignant melanoma and tried every drug/technique known to man, but the melanoma was too aggressive and killed him. Then I got a malignant melanoma on the left side of my face. It was only 0.6 mm! We took it off and confirmed the diagnosis. It was so small that no node dissection was necessary. So Far, at two years and counting, I have no sign of the disease. They tell me the mortality rate in cases like mine is only 3% at Ten Years. I guess I was lucky to find it when I did. The treatment could have been much worse. Years of Tennis, Hunting, Scuba Diving and Golf resulted in my melanoma. I spent 18 years also in New Mexico which has even more UV than Florida (where I am now). I now wear a broad-brimmed Hat (Tilliey hiking hat) and use SPF 30+ when I go out. I try to walk 40 minutes a day to chase away the pounds. You see I like to eat the Mahi-mahi. Have some for me soon. p.s. I have dived Molokini, Maui, Lanai and the Big Island. All our best, Ed Crowell
